Q.... what are the hungry files

A... For the past nine years I have been generating artwork which involved the public revealing to me their personal hunger. This is hunger in a metaphorical sense, think along the lines of desire, lust or craving, rather than to literally wish for a chocolate!
The results have never failed to astonish me, such a simple question has time and time again produced heartbreaking, sentimental and touching messages. The age, gender and race of my wonderful participants add a host of multiple meanings beyond the literal sense of the text. From the ten year old boy who wanted a secure family, to the pensioner who wanted more time, there is always a surprise hunger waiting in the person next to you, weather it be a friend or stranger, and if your honest there is one inside you too.
Your hunger is not a negative part of you though, quite the opposite, it makes you who you are. It may be a fun or jovial desire to do something wild like a bungee jump, to have plastic surgery or to become part of a particular profession. It may however, be a painful admission, one that is not easy to confront and almost impossible to say, your confession of wrong doing, an acknowledgment of hurt or a declaration for a new life. This is your platform, your space to release your hunger and make it visual and real. Your face and your message will mean lots of different things to different people, it will be read in a million different ways, however, to the person it is
directed to, it will mean what is intended.
Should you wish to invite people, or indeed a particular person to view your hungry file, it will be your way of declaring your desire, and whether it brings happiness or pain to the viewer you will at least know that your hunger has been stated and mentally filed.
